Parks, Recreation and Tourism B.S.

Major Requirements

A total of 120 credits is required for the degree.

PRT Foundation Courses

One three-credit course in humanities (classics, history, philosophy, religion)3
One three-credit course in communications (art, art history, English literature, foreign language, music, theatre, world literature)3
One three-credit course in social sciences (anthropology, economics, geography, political science, psychology, sociology)3
One four-credit laboratory course in natural sciences (biology, chemistry, geology, physics, plant biology, plant and soil science, zoology)4

The PRT curriculum encompasses a balanced mix of classes appropriate to Public Outdoor Recreation, as well as Private Outdoor Recreation and Tourism, as shown in the lists that follow.  Courses provide students with the educational tools necessary to enter the field in either the public domain or private enterprise.  Students take all 12 of the courses listed below, including the mandatory internship, plus three professional electives.
